High Beach Visitor Centre volunteers: celebrating 10 years of sharing the love for the Forest

On July 10th we celebrated the 10th anniversary of our volunteers taking up the running of High Beach Visitor Centre on behalf of City of London Corporation.

Since EFHT’s predecessor organisation, the Friends of Epping Forest, took over running the Centre 10 years ago, volunteers have welcomed over 145 thousand visitors to the Forest, providing advice and guidance about how best to enjoy the Forest in a respectful way. Collectively, volunteers have contributed an astounding 20,000 hours of support to welcoming visitors to this wonderful ancient Forest.

Judy Adams, chair of EFHT, thanked the City for entrusting the running of the Centre to EFHT, and the volunteers for their invaluable contribution. Ben Murphy, gave his sincere thanks to the volunteers on behalf of the Epping Forest & Commons Committee stating it was a “truly outstanding effort, by any measure”, adding “You have not only helped to bring the rich history of the Forest to life, but you have shared information which has helped to educate new visitors on how best to enjoy Epping Forest, whilst protecting its most delicate assets“.

A huge thank you to all our wonderful volunteers!
