Epping Forest Underground Stations
One of the most efficient and environmentally friendly ways to reach Epping Forest is by tube. For the largest stretches of forest, the Central Line of the London Underground provides direct access to several stations, including Loughton, Theydon Bois and Epping. The journey from central London typically takes around 30-40 minutes, making it an ideal choice for day-trippers. Once you arrive at any of these stations, the forest is accessible on foot. The various trails and paths begin just a short walk from the station exits, offering quick access to the natural beauty of the area. There are Forest walking and direction signages outside of Loughton and Epping Station, as well as way-marked routes pointing you towards the Forest. The more southern stretches of Forest, such as Wanstead Park, Hollow Ponds and Walthamstow Forest can be accessed the central line loop by alighting at Leytonstone, Wanstead or Redbridge stations.
Overground Train
Epping Forest can also be reached by overground train. Both Highams Park and Chingford stations offer great access to the forest including local landmarks and beauty spots including the Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge. Pole Hill and Connaught Water.
By Bus
To reach Epping Forest by bus, you can take several local routes that connect nearby towns to the forest’s entrances. Wanstead, Chingford, Buckhurst Hill and Loughton in particular are connected to Transport for London’s Bus Routes.
Car
