On Saturday 14th October, we held a panel discussion session at Forest School (E17) ahead of our Annaul General Meeting, hosted by Jo Blackman, EFHT Trustee and Cabinet Member for Environment and Sustainability at Redbridge.
The panelists were:
- Bridget Fox, Regional External Affairs Officer, Woodland Trust
- Crispin Truman OBE, Director of the Rayne Foundation, previous Chief executive of CPRE, the countryside charity and the Churches Conservation Trust
- Kathryn Machin, Head of Community Engagement Campaigns, WWF-UK, involved in the development of the People’s Plan for Nature
The panel discussed how trees and woods should be at the heart of nature recovery; the importance of equal access to green spaces; putting people’s voices on nature at the centre of future policy; and the policy work that environment charities and individual citizens alike can take to stand up for a future that both nature and people can thrive.
We took lots of lessons from the session, and look forward to putting them into practice over the course of next year in the upcoming local, Londonwide and general elections.
